Faculty Division Rikshospitalet, University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway We report the successful use of veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in a 53-year-old patient with Legionella pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with severe barotraumas. The patient was supported for 59 days without any changes in the ECMO circuit. This is probably the longest support ever reported using the same oxygenator.
